چکیده

Abstract Background Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) have the potential to supersede larvicidal activity for management of various insect pests. Result Lab experiments were conducted test pathogenicity 2 EPNs local species; Steinernema feltiae and Heterorhabditis bacteriophora at different (IJs/cm ) concentrations against cabbage butterfly, Pieris brassicae (L.). The native isolate was obtained from soil samples, collected Rajgarh, Hamachi Pradesh, India. Petri dish bioassay used species ( S. HR1 H. HR2) (0, 10, 20, 40, 80, 160 IJs/cm ). Based on strains, only isolates effectively showed activity. highest (%) (72.08 67.42%), 2nd instar larval mortality recorded in treatments with at160 , respectively. At 4th larvae, respective (85.38, 69.50%) treatment respectively, . In case pupae, rates (62.12, 58.58%) ; (74 12%) both tested EPNs, 80 Percent P. treated EPN significantly higher than untreated control. Results revealed that percent increased increase time periods, being maximum 72 h. bacteriophora, strains potent low concentration even 48 h exposure. Conclusion This study found as a biocontrol agent brassicae.

Laboratory evaluation of the pathogenicity of three entomopathogenic nematodes against larvae of cabbage butterfly, Pieris brassicae Linnaeus (Lepidoptera: Pieridae)

The development of indigenously isolated entomopathogenic nematodes as biological control agents was investigated. The study involved three nematode species (Heterorhabditis indica, Steinernema thermophilum and S. glaseri) and their pathogenicity against larvae of cabbage butterfly, Pieris brassicae, under laboratory conditions. Nematodes of different concentrations (0, 10, 25, 50, 75, and 100 ...

habditid nematodes of the Steinernematidae and Heterorhabditidae family are lethal to a broad range of economically important insect pests (Journey and Ostlie, 2000). Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPN) are often applied to sites and ecosystems that routinely receive other inputs that may interact with nematodes, including chemical pesticides, fertilizers, and soil amendments (De Nardo and Grewal,...

Hemocyte Responses of the Colorado Potato Beetle, Leptinotarsa decemlineata, and the Greater Wax Moth, Galleria mellonella, to the Entomopathogenic Nematodes, Steinernema feltiae and Heterorhabditis bacteriophora

Hemocyte encapsulation reactions of infective juveniles of two Iranian isolates of the entomopathogenic nematodes, Heterorhabditis bacteriophora Poinar (Rhabditina: Heterorhabditidae) and Steinernema feltiae Filipjev (Tylenchina: Steinernematidae), were compared in the economic pest Colorado potato beetle, Leptinotarsa decemlineata Say (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae), and the greater wax moth, Gall...

Cryopreservation of Steinernema carpocapsae and Heterorhabditis bacteriophora.

A method for the cryopreservation of third-stage infective juveniles (IJ) of Steinernema carpocapsae and Heterorhabiditis bacteriophora was developed. Cryoprotection was achieved by incubating the nematodes in 22% glycerol (S. carpocapsae) or 14% glycerol (H. bacteriophora) for 24 hours, followed by 70% methanol at 0 C for 10 minutes. The viability of S. carpocapsae frozen in liquid nitrogen as...

The biocontrol potential of entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) against soil-dwelling life stages of the onion thrips, Thrips tabaci Lindeman (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) was evaluated under laboratory and semi-field conditions. The pathogenicity of native isolate of Steinernema feltiae (T1) and three commercial strains, S. feltiae, S. carpocapsae (Rhabditida: Steinernematidae) and Heterorhabditis b...
